What is Student Work Study?.Student Work Study is an LNS initiaive structured around a collaborative inquiry between an experienced teacher working in a temporary research role and hosting classroom teachers. The initiative is rooted in a model of collaboration and a co-learning relationship.
The core purposes of the Student Work Study initiative are to use the processes of pedagogical documentation, collaborative relationships and partnerships as well as research to interrogate thinking and learning. The outcomes of SWS include: increase understanding of how assessment for and as learning impacts student learning, well-being and achievement and responsive instruction; contributing to collective professional knowledge about learning and teaching; as well as, contributing to the spread of this learning within and among district school boards, including writing a monograph for June 2016. |

The Student Work Study Initiative began in HPCDSB in 2012. Since that time, many inquiries have resulted in a deeper understanding of students' learning experiences in different curriculum areas, the optimum conditions for learning, and collaborative partnerships between students and teachers.
