“It has always seemed to me, ever since early childhood, amid all the commonplaces of life, I was very near to a kingdom of ideal beauty. Between it and me hung only a thin veil. I could never draw it quite aside, but sometimes a wind fluttered it and I caught a glimpse of the enchanting realms beyond - only a glimpse - but those glimpses have always made life worthwhile.”
- Lucy Maud Montgomery, Green Gables National Historical Park, Cavendish P.E.I.
The Beauty in our (Mathematical) World
The integration of visual arts and mathematics can provide learners with a heightened perception for and experience of the mathematical world that surrounds them. The beauty of this mathematical world lies beneath all things that we come in contact with in our universe.
L.M. Montgomery elegantly describes that when a person is deeply immersed in a reality that mathematical beauty will reveal itself. The quest of all mathematical educators is to expose learners to that veiled beauty. The intent of this website is to investigate the incredible possibilities that the intentional, thoughtful integration of mathematics with visual arts can provide for all learners and educators.
